This thing happens on the first day of teaching classes. Also, at other times during the semester, but specifically the first day. That thing is: I get really excited and hopeful about the future, to the point where after getting home from school I googled “English teacher blogs” and have been reading since then. Also, watching Weeds, which explains the clip. Usually I feel a mild-to-moderate sense of dread on syllabus day, given the fact that I’ve just been notified about 10+ major assignments that I know I’ll never feel entirely prepared for, no matter how long I have to do them.

But seriously, guys. I can’t wait to be a teacher. Something about the bold-faced hope that I might be able to make the world a better place, or whatever.
